Wordpress site through GW
If you want to host a website at the UU you can contact the GW faculty for a WordPress site. By using a wordpress site that is provided by GW you have a powerfull tool to host your website in a safe manner.
Please do not use your own WordPress websites, use those provided to you by GW!
If a WordPress site won’t suit your needs, you can ask GW for safe alternatives.

Edu.nl
Edu.nl is the safe tool for shortening long URL’s that is offered by SURF. It is privacy-friendly and safe.

Microsoft teams
Microsoft teams offers the option to work and communicate in teams. You can work together on files and communicate with a group chat. You can also host group calls and make seperate channels (chats) for your group.
While ChatGPT (or a similar tool) can be a powerful tool, it’s important to be aware of the information you share in it. The tool can use your entered data for training purposes of the model. Therefore, do not share confidential, sensitive or personal information with ChatGPT, as this poses a risk to data privacy and security. ChatGPT is also based on machine learning and contains inherent biases or limitations. Be aware of this and take this into account when interpreting the generated content. Verify important information with reliable sources as necessary.
From an information security perspective, our desire is to offer a reliable tool that handles data confidentially and securely. It is not yet possible to indicate when – and if – this tool will be available.
Don't use AI tools for sensitive data.
If you use AI tools for sensitive data, they might store and use this data. Hereby, you are potentially contributing to a data leak.

FindTime (Microsoft)
Office 365 includes the same functionality as many of its alternatives (Datumprikker, Doodle). You simply download the plugin, set-up a list of dates and times. Then you all vote for your time and that’s it. This is a safe and reliable way to find the perfect time for your meeting.

OneDrive
In Office 365 you have access to the storage service OneDrive. The capacity of this storage is 1 TB for every single user. You can use it for business data and private data as well. You are the only person with access to the files, unless you authorize one or more colleagues explicitly. This makes it much safer than public storage services such as Dropbox.

OneNote is the note taking program that is part of office 365. It is supported by the UU and safe to use.

The tool is also uniquely qualified to support an Agile way of working. Scrum boards and Kanban boards are at the heart of the design.

Wooclap
Wooclap is the replacement application for Mentimeter, and it is a voting tool that allows you to easily encourage interaction with students. With Wooclap, students can use their phone or laptop during a lecture to answer questions posed by the lecturer. Wooclap can also be used to check students’ opinions on various statements, match information (such as matching a term to a definition) or create a word cloud. The results can be shown immediately, so that you as a teacher can elaborate on them during the lecture.

- In the event you need to communicate using other channels, consensus of security and privacy professionals is that Signal is one the safest messengers available (compared to WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.). We recommend the use of Signal in those cases.
- Keep UU data in UU environments. If need be, use Signal to inform people there is a file waiting for them.

Microsoft teams (or WhatsApp for Business)
- Teams is a Microsoft application you can use to work together, chat with colleagues and share files. Everyone at the UU with an Office 365 account has access to this application. You can have one-on-one conversations as well as group conversations with your colleagues.
- If you need WhatsApp, use the WhatsApp for Business app. Download it via your PlayStore or AppStore on your smartphone.
Wooclap is the replacement application for Mentimeter, and it is a voting tool that allows you to easily encourage interaction with students. With Wooclap, students can use their phone or laptop during a lecture to answer questions posed by the lecturer. Wooclap can also be used to check students’ opinions on various statements, match information (such as matching a term to a definition) or create a word cloud. The results can be shown immediately, so that you as a teacher can elaborate on them during the lecture.

Your videos on Youtube may be censored or you can be shadowbanned, depending on your content. Your videos may be used for commercial purposes.
Youtube only suited for publicly available videos (like on the UU Youtube channel). When uploading to Youtube you should always take the privacy of the people that are in the video into consideration. If you can use Microsoft Stream you should use that.
